CAVALRY Awarded $300,000 Future Ready Impact Grant to Expand Youth Apprenticeship Programs
San Antonio Area Foundation commits $50,000 in first year of six-year funding cycle
CAVALRY (Center for Acknowledging the Values, Accomplishments, and Lives of Remarkable Youth), is proud to announce it has been awarded a total of $300,000 through the Future Ready Impact Grant from the San Antonio Area Foundation - a major milestone in the organization’s continued efforts to prepare young people for postsecondary and workforce success. The first-year installment of $50,000 will support program expansion beginning in 2025.
This transformative, multi-year investment empowers CAVALRY to scale its proven Project Management pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs, which deliver career readiness training, industry-recognized certifications and direct access to employment opportunities. These services are designed to uplift youth- especially those in underserved communities and Future Ready SA partner schools - by removing systemic barriers and guiding them toward meaningful careers.
CAVALRY Founder and CEO Dr. Tracie Edmond herself grew up in poverty and housing insecurity. Her life changed when a high school counselor helped her land a life-changing apprenticeship at the Pentagon. Through that experience Dr. Edmond went from poverty to purpose by helping others rise above similar challenges through workforce access and mentorship.
